Make Learning Enjoyable
Hi, I am stuck on this question, any help would be much appreciated!
Question 2.
Explain how changes in environment can result in divergent evolution using an example. [3 marks]
Great question!
Divergent evolution is when two similar species or individuals within the same species evolve different adaptations. This can be due to different selective pressures or random chance. Typically these diverging species will be separated and unable to breed together. For example Galapagos finches were separated by islands and prevented from interbreeding, leading to them developing divergent adaptations such as different beaks due to different food sources.
hope this helps and good luck
