An expression is a mathematical function which is not equating something.

For example:

3x + 4y + 2

An equation is a mathematical function which is saying this is equal to this.

For example:

3x + 4y + 2 = 3

e) 2x(x+3y)

f) 34x(x – 2y) + 2xy

Solve the following equations

a) 3x + 4 = 7

b) 2x2 = 8

c) 3x = 4

d) 2-23a = 0.002

e) (1 -3x) – 2(x+3) = 3

f) 34x(x – 2) + 2x = -2x

g) 8h – 13(2-h) + 3 = 0
