  • c) 0.5 x – 4 = x + 0.5 [1 mark]
  • d) 3a + 4 = 2a – 1 [1 mark]

Question 2.

Make x the subject of the equation:

  • a) x + 2 = 2 – 4y
  • b) 0.5x + 2 = 3 – y

Question 3.

Simplify the following expressions

  • a) 3y + 4y – 2x + 3x2 [1 mark]
  • b) x(3x + 4y) + 3 [1 mark]
